Pet Watch

I’m Sue and I live near Llanwnnen, Lampeter. I moved here in 2016 from the outskirts of Bristol.

This is now my dream location, as I love the country life. I have two dogs and three horses, and love being outside and caring for animals. The health and safety of any animal I have ever owned or cared for is extremely important to me, as is their need for companionship. I have cared for horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep and cattle (not milking). I’m afraid I don’t do spiders, lizards, snakes or stick insects.

I completely understand that nagging feeling about leaving your animals and house with a complete stranger. I can only say that I would treat your animals and home with the utmost respect, and take you instruction as to exactly how you would like things done.

My name is Sue Normington, and having previously lived in Cheshire, my husband Brian and I retired to beautiful South West Wales last year, where we feel completely at home.

I have always wanted to work with animals in some capacity and had previously volunteered at our local RSPCA, helping with the care of the smaller animals, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and mice. I naturally ended up adopting a number of them during my time as a volunteer.

My very first pet was a kitten, who was completely crazy, and I developed a lifelong love of cats. We currently have 3 dogs; a female cocker spaniel, a male bordoodle (border collie crossed with miniature poodle= adorable bundle of manic energy) and a rescue Bernese Mountain dog. They all love their walks regardless of the weather. We also keep chickens, who make great pets and they give us the benefit of daily fresh eggs.

A number of years ago, as an adult, I learned to do some basic horse riding and had the opportunity to loan a pony for a couple of days each week. It was one of the best, if smelliest, experiences and taught me so much about their intuition, co-operation and trust and how each animal, no matter what they are, have individual personalities.

My hobbies include reading, dancing, and local history. I plan to learn the Welsh language too! We both look forward to caring for your animals as part of West Wales Pet Watch.

My name is Brian Normington and we have retired to Capel Iwan for a quieter more peaceful life, than that of North West England. I have experience of caring for Budgerigars, Rabbits, and Tropical fish. We now have Hens and our two dogs, who especially like exploring the countryside and the beautiful beaches in this area.

My hobbies are gardening, drawing, DIY, Sport, and birdwatching.

Sue and Brian joined West Wales Pet Watch in April 2019.
